Considered the tallest building completed in Chicago in the 1940s, the Wesley Hospital pavilion, part of the Northwestern Memorial Hospital medical campus, was a 21-story, 552,123-square-foot neo-gothic structure. It was decommissioned in 2002 and was eventually replaced by the Prentice Women’s Hospital as part of Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s redevelopment plan.
The limestone high-rise was demolished, and environmental abatement and asset recovery was performed similar to work completed on the hospital’s Passavant Pavilion project.
