Radisson BLU Aqua Hotel, Chicago, IL

Site Profile

The ultra-modern, upscale BLU Hotel in the Aqua Tower situated in downtown Chicago made its North American debut in 2011. The 334-room hotel occupies the lower 18 floors of this internationally acclaimed high rise with aqueoarchitectural design.

Project Description

Selective and structural demolition of the lower floors was completed in preparation for construction of the new hotel. The project presented a special challenge that required extensive logistical coordination of the demolition on this tightly confined site while accommodating ongoing build-out construction during the process. Finishes, partitions, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing components were stripped out. Also, structural decks were strategically removed for the addition of new escalators, elevators and stairways.
