Numerous industrial plants operated by Archer Daniels Midland, the world leader in agricultural processing and fermentation technology, required industrial selective and structural demolition for renovation and new construction projects at these sites.
The scope of the various projects included: demolition of a boiler facility in an active plant with live utilities operating throughout the structure in eight locations; demolition of tank farms, which contained hazardous materials, that were adjacent to plant activities; selective demolition within the plant to recover assets and clear lines for new installations; removal of various buildings around live-plant activities; and decommissioning a boiler plant to recover assets and prepare for demolition. Additionally, the project entailed asset recovery of a MODO-feed dryer system, which consisted of seven effects-process lines above an active starch-processing line with limited access for equipment/tools.
